STUDI EVALUATIF TERHADAP UNSUR ESTETIKA PADA PRODUK FURNITUR ARM CHAIR

Abstract

This study aims to examine the aesthetic aspects of armchair furniture as an interior element that not only serves a functional purpose but also carries aesthetic value that influences spatial perception and users’ visual comfort. The aesthetic evaluation of armchairs tends to be conducted subjectively. The armchair was selected as the research object because it represents a type of furniture with diverse forms, materials, colors, and design styles that reflect the character and identity of a space. The analysis focuses on the elements and principles of design, including form, proportion, texture, color, as well as balance and harmony in armchair composition. The research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method on an armchair design. Data were collected through visual observation, literature review, and interviews with interior designers and users. The aesthetic evaluation of the armchair revealed that its harmonious visual quality is achieved through a balanced integration of form, line, color, texture, size, and proportion. The armchair conveys a soft, natural, and elegant appearance due to the dominance of its oval form and curved lines, which collectively create a minimalist design character. The use of suar wood enhances the tactile experience through its smooth surface texture while simultaneously providing visual appeal through the distinctive patterns of its natural wood grain. Consequently, the armchair exhibits an artistic aesthetic characterized by the natural brown color gradation of the wood combined with prominent black grain patterns. The application of suar wood significantly contributes to enhancing the overall aesthetic value of the armchair as a furniture product. This study contributes to the development of product and interior design knowledge, particularly in understanding the importance of aesthetics in furniture design and its impact on the overall spatial experience.
