The GADISKU community in Surabaya empowers persons with disabilities including physical, hearing-speech, mental, and intellectual disabilities through macrame crafts. However, the community lacks a standardized visual identity, which constrains its market competitiveness. Conventional branding approaches rely heavily on verbal interviews, creating a significant communication barrier, particularly for partners with hearing-speech and intellectual disabilities. This study aims to design a comprehensive Graphic Standards Manual (GSM) using an adapted nonverbal Design Thinking methodology. Employing a participatory design approach, the research involved 10 crafters with diverse disabilities (2 physical, 2 hearing-speech, 1 mental, and 5 intellectual disabilities) and 2 community managers. Data were collected through visual moodboards, dummy packaging simulations, and behavioral observations to extract aesthetic preferences. The findings produced a comprehensive brand identity system comprising a primary logo, a color philosophy (Magenta, Indigo, Amber), custom typography inspired by macrame knots, and a supergraphic pattern. The visual elements were specifically engineered for visual accessibility ensuring high contrast and pattern recognition to support users with Color Vision Deficiency (CVD) or low vision. This research contributes theoretically by proposing a nonverbal participatory design model for inclusive branding and practically by delivering a sustainable identity system that positions the community as active creators rather than commodified subjects.
