Journal Article Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts must be free from content that contains plagiarism. Authors are advised to use plagiarism detection software to check content similarities. Editors have detected plagiarism in articles submitted to the Journal of Society: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat using the Turnitin software (www.turnitin.com) since October 2020. The maximum threshold for plagiarism is less than 20%.

Plagiarism is an intentional or unintentional act to obtain credit or value for scientific work, namely by quoting part or all of the works or scientific works of other parties that have been recognized as scientific works without mentioning the source precisely and accurately.

For that, then:

Articles must be original, have never been published, and are not in the process of waiting for publication in another journal. As for material taken orally from other sources, it is necessary to identify it clearly to produce a text that is different from the original text.

If plagiarism is identified, the editor-in-chief is responsible for reviewing the article and will take action according to the level of plagiarism detected, with the following guidelines:

Plagiarism Rate

Type 1: Plagiarized part of a short sentence from another article without citing the source. Action Type 1: The author is given a warning and encouragement to properly change the text and quote.

Type 2: Plagiarized most of the articles from other sources without proper citations or mentioning the source. Action Type 2: Articles submitted by the author will be rejected for publication in the Society: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat. Furthermore, authors may also be subject to sanctions in the form of not being allowed to republish their manuscripts in the Society: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat.

All article authors are responsible for the content of the articles they submit to the Society: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat. If the article submitted by the author falls into the category of plagiarism, then all authors will get the same action. Suppose the author is proven to have submitted manuscripts to the Society: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat and other journals simultaneously, where this overlap is known during the review process or after publication. In that case, action will be taken according to type 2. Suppose plagiarism is found in a category outside the provisions above. In that case, the editor has the right to impose sanctions in accordance with the policies of the Society: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat editorial team.
